He added that in order to realize goals of the agricultural restructuring, restructuring in agricultural education and training, in science and technology management, and in institutional governance must be pushed ahead. The agricultural restructuring must be reorganization of production for farmers rather than a sole structural change in varieties and breeding, and economic cooperation should be a key factor, he emphasized. According to him, "Economic cooperation is not purely merging fields but encouraging cooperation in production. Promotion in science and technology in agriculture is substantially important too. Only science and technology mastering can push agriculture forward and make breakthroughs".
Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien delivered opening speech
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that in order to facilitate the agricultural restructuring, grass-root unit must carry out its own renovation. In fact, in Vietnam household is considered as a grass-root unit. So, if there is no organization in production for about current 10 million households, disorders as well as low competition with outside goods would be obvious. Therefore, the agricultural restructuring must commence by restructuring cooperatives composed of households, or by enhancing the linkage between households and enterprises.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan spoke at the workshop
Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan further added that restructuring of agricultural product purchasing and input supply systems must be done too. Along with that, that identifying national key products and establishing a good relation between scientists and farmers are essentially promoted so that scientific outcomes can be transferred to farmers more effectively. Issuance in agriculture must be concerned too, he said.
The Workshop was successfully held with fruitful presentations, intensive comments and recommendations for the best performance in agricultural restructuring in Vietnam from participants.
